Oh god, this concept is really scary.

Check out this website: Here.

Basically, if you're a teen girl between the ages of 12 and 13, you beg your parents to buy one of these books for you, and you are then written into a Twilight-esque, poorly written teen romance as the main Mary Sue character.

What could be more fun? (Sarcasm)

It actually seems like a pretty good money making idea, if you're willing to sell your soul to the literary devil.

Despite the fact that I have no free time, I saw a few new movies recently (I needed a break).

The first movie was The Men who Stare at Goats. It was an okay movie. I had NO idea it was all about hippies, though. And they keep saying it's a semi-true story, but I'm trying to figure out if anything about that was actually true. >_< Either way, it was a weird movie. I'm still laughing about George Cloony telling Ewan McGregor he isn't a Jedi. Hah.

The second movie I saw, which was much, much better was Zombieland. During the opening credits I had already decided that I was buying this movie when it came out on DVD. It was that good. A cool thing about this movie is that it was filmed near where I live. I had heard this, but had forgotten the fact when I went to see the movie. Early in the movie, though, I saw a bumper sticker on a car in the movie that was for a local radio station. I commented on it to my boyfriend, and then we remembered that the movie had been shot here. We then started noticing roads and places that we recognized. It was pretty cool. That's not the only reason the movie was good, of course. This movie was just really freaking funny. And awesome. You need to see it before it gets out of theaters (which will be very soon, I think).

And now, a video that I found on youtube... about Metallica and cute kitties:

I want one of these as a pet:
Vegetarian Spider

Its name is funny. It's called "Bagheera kiplingi". Hmm... I wonder how they came up with that name? ;P

Today's item description on woot.com is hilarious. You all need to read this -- it's making fun of gamers and con-goers... and anyone who's played D&D. I've copy and pasted it here for when the website changes tomorrow.

Oh, and by the way, the product they're selling is some kind of floor cleaner. I kinda want one.

This blog/article makes an interesting point. They're telling people to call cell phone companies and complain about the extra-long messages you have to listen to when you want to leave someone a voicemail message (such as "To page this person, press five now. At the tone, please record your message. When you are finished, you may hang up, or press one for more options.")

I think I might do it. If we complain enough, I wonder if the companies will change these messsages...?

First -- there's a woot-off today at woot.com if anyone cares. I'll be checking that all day...

Second, I just got a twitter account. I know, I've been avoiding it, but twitter's "about" page convinced me. I probably won't post to it very often -- it seems more useful as a source of information. If anyone cares to add me, here's my profile: http://twitter.com/Ringwraith10

Here is yet another foxtrot comic that I found especially amusing -- especially since I could see myself doing this...

In a follow-up from my previous Lady Gaga post, here's an article about her exploding outfit.

More Lady Gaga disturbances HERE.

Yuck.

I always play music while I'm writing papers. I usually play Regina Spektor or Kate Nash, or something along those lines.

(And yeah, I don't usually do these writer's block things, but this one seemed appropriate.)

This is what music looks like in this day and age...

Image under the cut due to possibly disturbing content... it IS Lady Gaga, after all. )

I just found this collection of nerdy "Motivational Posters" at this website.

Here's one particularly interesting one )

I find it so sad that Farrah Fawcett had to die on the same day as Michael Jackson. No one seems to care -- Michael Jackson is the big news for the next three months, at least. Well, I don't give a flip about MJ, so I'll do my own tribute to Farrah Fawcett.

Thank goodness she's too dead to care that she's apparently not as important as Michael Jackson.

Here's a link to a Glamour article on Farrah Fawcett: (Though it seems to be more about the clothes she wore in the 70s)

Mad TV can be so funny sometimes (though they're often pretty stupid, as well).

Here's a Gwen Stefani parody:

Yeah, I'm just joining all these new websites recently. Does anyone else use "GoodReads"?

I don't know how much I will use this, but I'm giving it a try.

I saw the new Terminator movie last night. It was very, very different from the other Terminator movies. The whole mood of the movie was different. Anyway, it was pretty good. It was your basic modern action movie. Lots of oversized explosions. I don't really have that much to say about it. I will say that, though I know that all of the Terminator movies are in chronological order, this one felt like a prequel. It takes place in what was the future in the previous movies, so some of the characters from the future in the other movies are now younger in the present. I dunno, it's a little confusing.

Anyway, today is the last day of my one summer class, then I'll be doing pretty much nothing, as I don't have any hours to work in the bookstore. I guess I need to be looking for other employment.

Oh, by the way, I saw the preview for the new "Sherlock Holmes" movie that's coming out. Man, that does NOT look like the Sherlock Holmes I know. It looks more like House (and yes, I do know that House is based on Sherlock Holmes). Anyway, I'll have to go see that movie when it comes out, regardless.
